Boathouse

Row of racing shells stored on racks inside a boat shed, with a single shell positioned on the ground in the center, and open garage doors showing greenery outside.

Our facilities feature state-of-the-art equipment in a modern space while maintaining the character of a true boathouse. The center offers direct water access, expansive docks, and thoughtfully designed training areas that support both rowing and sailing programs year-round. From high-performance shells and sailboats to fully equipped indoor training spaces, every detail is built to elevate the athlete experience while preserving the welcoming, community-driven spirit that defines Mt. Baker. It’s a place where tradition meets innovation—and where athletes of all ages come to train, connect, and thrive on the water.

Mount Baker Rowing & Sailing Center was dedicated in 1985 after being funded by the 1968 Forward Thrust Bond. Built as a community hub for water recreation in Seattle, it has grown to host major events and provide inclusive rowing, sailing and summer camp programs for all ages in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Washington in Seattle, our location offer endless opportunities to train, explore, and be inspired by the beauty around us. From the peaceful waters beside Seward Park to the stretches along Mercer Island, Leschi, and beyond, every outing brings new sights and challenges. Many recognize our boats gliding across the lake as they cross the I-90 floating bridge. Our community draws members from all over—Mt. Baker, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Leschi, Capitol Hill, West Seattle, Bellevue, and more—united by a shared passion for the water and community.
